How HimTrek works

Find Himachal's unexplored places. Reach one. Earn its stamp.

The game

Pick a place on the map and go there. When your phone's location is close enough, you can unlock it. Then take a photo of yourself there to claim it, and its stamp goes into your Himachal Passport. Many people can claim the same place; claiming does not mean owning any land. A place counts as unexplored until 10 people have stamped it.

Points and Explorer Admins

You earn 1 point for each different place you stamp and 2 for each place you pin that gets approved. Points never count speed or difficulty. At 25 points you become an Explorer Admin and can approve new places.

Stay safe

Most places have not been checked by a person, and their location may be approximate. HimTrek does not draw walking trails unless someone has checked them. Do not go in bad weather or after dark, tell someone where you are going, respect private land, temples and local rules, and turn back if it feels unsafe. HimTrek never rewards rushing or risky routes.

Your privacy

Your location is used only to check that you have reached a place, and only while the app is open. HimTrek keeps how far you were, not where you were. Photos stay private unless you post them, and location details inside photos are removed. Your email is never shown. You can leave the leaderboard or delete your account in settings. The full privacy policy has the details.

Where the places come from

The starting places come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. Map tiles are by OpenFreeMap. Explorers add more places, which are reviewed before they appear. Reels play from YouTube and Instagram and belong to their creators.
